Feed mixes
The "Feed Mixes" menu under "Feed" gives you an overview of the feed mixes (home-mixed, compound feed, feed components) you have created. You can easily see the nutritional values as well as which farm(s) they are linked to. All feed mixes are sorted by default with the newest first if they are linked to a farm. If the feed mix is not linked to a farm, it will be placed at the bottom of the list.
There are three types of feed mixes you can create:
- Home-mixed
- Compound feed
- Feed component
Home-mixed
This feed type contains several ingredients from your ingredients list. You create a feed mix by clicking on "+ New feed mix" in the top right corner of the table.
Fill out the form to create a new feed mix:
- Name of mix: Enter the desired name of the feed mix.
- Type: Choose "Home-mixed" from the list.
- Farms: Select the farms the mix will be used for.
- Click "Continue".
- When you click in the search field, your registered ingredients will appear in a list. You can also type the name of the ingredient you want to use in the mix.
- Click on the name and repeat until you have selected all the ingredients from your ingredients list that should be included in the mix.
- Enter the percentage of each ingredient to be included. The total must add up to 100%.
- Click "Create feed mix".
The advantage of using this option is that you only need to register the total consumption of the home-mixed feed and not the individual feed components. You can see the total consumption of the entire home-mixed feed under "Feed -> Feed summary" and the consumption of individual ingredients under "Feed -> Ingredients summary".
Compound feed
If you use a compound feed mix or receive automatic feed deliveries from your feed supplier, you should create a compound feed mix. Go to the "Feed -> Feed Mixes" menu and click on "+ New feed mix" in the top right corner of the table.
Fill out the form to create a feed mix:
- Name of mix: Enter the desired name of the feed mix.
- Important: For example, you buy a feed mix called "PigMix Start 30-55 kg". You only use the mix up to 40 kg. To make it easier for your employees, you name the mix "Feed mix 1, 30-40 kg". This can make perfect sense, but be aware that it might cause confusion if the name of the mix in PIGS365 differs from the delivery note or when ordering feed from the supplier.
- Type: Choose "Compound feed".
- Farms: Select the farms the mix will be used for.
- Click "Continue".
- If you DO NOT receive automatic feed deliveries:
- Enter the nutritional content (found on your delivery note), price, and any additional fees.
- Enter the nutritional content (found on your delivery note), price, and any additional fees.
- If you receive automatic feed deliveries:
- Click in the search field, where you will see a list of feed mixes for which you have received a notification. NOTE: You can only create the mix once you have received your first delivery.
- Select the desired mix. The nutritional content and price will be filled in automatically. Read more under "Notifications".
- Click in the search field, where you will see a list of feed mixes for which you have received a notification. NOTE: You can only create the mix once you have received your first delivery.
- Click "Create feed mix".
Feed component
A feed component consists of a single ingredient and is used when you want to register the consumption of each individual ingredient rather than the entire feed mix (home-mixed), or in cases where it is not possible to track consumption of the entire mix. Click on "+ New feed mix" in the top right corner of the table.
Fill out the form to create a feed component:
- Name of mix: Enter the desired name of the feed mix.
- Type: Choose "Feed component".
- Farms: Select the farms the mix will be used for.
- Click "Continue".
- When you click in the search field, a list of your registered ingredients will appear. You can also type the name of the ingredient you want to use and create it as a feed component.
You can only add one feed component, and it will make up 100% of the mix.
· Click "Create feed mix".
