Ingredients

To create a supplementary feed, you need to add ingredients to your ingredient library under the "Feed -> Ingredients" menu. You can add an unlimited number of ingredients– both standard ingredients from the feed ingredient table and, for example, your own grain with your own analysis. You create an ingredient by clicking on “+ New ingredient” in the top right corner of the table.

When you begin typing in the search field, a list of ingredients from the feed ingredient table will appear. Scroll through the list and select the ingredient you wish to create. If it’s your own ingredient, such as your own grain or a special vitamin blend, you can edit the name and nutrient content in the next step.

In this step, you have the option to:

  • Change the name: This makes it easy to select the correct ingredient for your blend, e.g., "Wheat, own" or "Wheat, neighbor".
  • Enter the price: The price of the ingredient is included in the feed and ingredient summaries as well as E-control.
  • Enter the start date for the price: Here you specify the date from the calendar when the price becomes valid. When the price changes, you have the option to continuously update the prices. See the "Edit prices on ingredients" section below.
  • Modify the nutrient content: If you have analyzed your own grain with a dry matter percentage that deviates from standard grain, enter the new value in the "Dry matter (%)" field. This will automatically calculate "Energy (FE/100 kg)" based on the entered value. You can also adjust crude protein and phosphorus.

Once you have entered all the information, click the "Create ingredient" button.

NOTE: If you want to register consumption at the ingredient level, you can already create the ingredient as a feed component in this step by checking "Create as feed component". Then select which farm(s) it should be used for. Finally, click the "Create ingredient" button.

The ingredient is now created under "Ingredients" in the ingredients list and possibly also as a feed component under "Feed Mixes". Created ingredients can be included in one or more supplementary feed mixes or subsequently created as feed components. See "Feed Mixes -> Home-mixed / Feed components" for more details.

Edit Price

You have the option to edit prices for both feed mixes and ingredients. When the price of an ingredient is changed, it will affect the mix(es) in which the ingredient is included, as well as if the ingredient is created as a feed component.

Click on the "Feed -> Ingredients" menu and then click the small arrow to the right of the ingredient you want to edit the price for.

Enter the new price and the date when it should be valid from. This will affect the calculations in the feed summary. Finish by clicking the "OK" button. It is also here, during price editing, that you can delete your ingredient.
